Evensong and Blessing of new lectern

We warmly invite you all to this special service at which a new lectern for the church will be dedicated.  It will be an Evensong for the Eve of Candlemas and the Dedication of the New Lectern.  The service will start at 5pm and will be followed by light refreshments in the Law Room.

The lectern was commissioned by our previous Rector, Canon Harriet Neale-Stevens, and we are delighted that Harriet and her husband Simon will be joining us for the service. The lectern is a superb piece of craftsmanship and was made by Alex Jones, the son of the late Sue Jones, who was known to many of you.  It is made of yew and takes the form of an open Bible, with the words, 'The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth', on its stem. We very much hope that Alex and Julia Holmes (whose late husband Roger bequeathed the funds for the lectern) will also be at the service, together with other friends of the church.
